Get ready to lead P4C in your school

The course is designed for teachers who want to develop a leadership role in P4C.  Participants must have completed the Level 2A course.  Completion of the Level 2B course and coursework will qualify you for a P4C Leader certificate.

The two-day Level 2B:

  • Explains how P4C can impact the school’s standards and values 
  • Shows how to plan for progress in P4C across a key stage or curriculum area
  • Extends reflective techniques to identify improvements in P4C practice
  • Explores social, political and ethical dimensions of P4C
  • Demonstrates practical initiatives to encourage 4C thinking  across the school
  • The course is designed for teachers who want to develop a leadership role in P4C. 
  • Participants must have completed the Level 2A course.

Alison Allsopp Profile

Alison offers school Inset, Level 1 & 2 training and support to teachers using the Philosophy for Children approach. Her background is as a Primary Teacher. Her work is based around her regular experience of P4C practice in the classroom and many years of leading whole school P4C at Alverstoke C of E Junior school, Gosport, Hampshire, now a SAPERE P4C Gold Award School. She also works alongside teachers, planning P4C sessions and providing mentoring support in other SAPERE Going for Gold schools in London and across the south. She has recent experience of training in International schools in Shanghai and Doha. 

In her role as National Training Manager for SAPERE*, she advises schools and coordinates whole school training, reviews the SAPERE school awards and oversees the mentoring programme for new trainers.

 

 

Alison Hall Profile

Alison Hall has been a P4C trainer since 2001. She works with educators on school P4C projects across the country using P4C to support and develop questioning, reasoning, meaning-making and oracy skills with mainly primary age children.

Alison was part of the SHINE 'Thinking for Better Learning' project, currently teaches the Camden project and leads the WWMT PRU pilot project using philosophical enquiry with secondary students in the PRU setting. Alison has worked on developing the Level 2A and 2B courses and the Tools for Thinking Together course as part of her part time role as SAPERE’s Courses Manager.

Specialist areas: P4C in KS1 and KS2; exercises and activities to develop better thinking; P4C in the PRU setting
